People told us the Data Discussions were their favorite part of Data Day Texas. But in conversations with alumni, we learned that what they really want is the whole buffet - discussions, presentations … and workshops.

And because of the January ice storm that shut down much of the country, a few hundred people were unable to attend the final edition of Data Day Texas. That has bugged me ever since.

Because it usually takes about 8–14 months to put together a larger conference - and because I will soon be traveling for an extended period of time - much of it out of the US - October will be my last opportunity to host an event in Texas.

So Data Discussions is now Data Weekend - a chance for all those who missed each other in January to get together one last time. I want to leave Austin with a final big blowout party - masquerading as a data conference. I hope you can join us.
